Core Beliefs

The Bible
At Common Ground Church we believe that the Bible is God’s true, living, and breathing Word. All scripture was inspired by and influenced by God through man. God chose human authors to be led by the Holy Spirit to give us His word to use in our lives daily [2 Peter 1:19-21]. We use the Bible as our guide for teaching and living.

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
2 Timothy 3:16
The Gospel
The Gospel is the Good News that Jesus, the Son of God, was sent to earth in the form of man to save the world from their sins. Jesus died on the cross, He was buried in a tomb, and He rose to life on the third day. Because of Jesus’ deep love for us, He gave himself as a sacrifice to cover all sins. Because of His resurrection, when we make the decision to believe in Him, we are promised heaven and eternal life. The Good News of the Gospel has the power to not only transform lives here on earth, but to offer eternal life in heaven.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
John 3:16
The Trinity
We believe that there is one God who eternally exists in three persons:
The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit.

Each person of the Trinity has their own role in the universe, but all share the following character traits: all-good, all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-present.

[John 10:30, Genesis 1:26, Ephesians 4:4-6, 2 Corinthians 3:17]
We are broken people in need of a Savior.
   [Romans 5:19]
We are redeemed by grace because of Jesus’ sacrifice.
       [Ephesians 1:7 and 2:8-9]
  We are chosen by God.
     [Ephesians 1:11]
